Gérard Piasko appointed Chief Investment Officer at Maerki Baumann

The Zurich-based private bank Maerki Baumann & Co. AG has appointed Gérard Piasko as its Chief Investment Officer (CIO) with effect from 1 January 2018. As Chairman of the Investment Commit-tee, Piasko will be responsible for shaping Maerki Baumann's investment strategy and for com-municating investment-related information to clients and the media. Maerki Baumann has thus taken a further step towards expanding its investment competencies and strengthening its market position.

Gérard Piasko brings with him many years of experience as the CIO of private banks: he previously worked for Bank Julius Baer and Bank Sal. Oppenheim (Switzerland) and, most recently, for Deutsche Bank (Switzerland). As a renowned financial markets expert, he made a name for himself by achieving above-average performance figures and by giving advance warnings of market correc-tions in 2000, 2008 and 2011. Gérard Piasko studied economics and law at the University of Zurich and completed his postgraduate studies at Columbia University in New York.

Dr Stephan A. Zwahlen, CEO of Maerki Baumann, is delighted by the appointment: "We are very fortunate in being able to hire Gérard Piasko for the key CIO position, given his track record and his many years of experience. I am convinced that, while using our modular investment solution as a basis, he will achieve an attractive performance for our clients and actively contribute to our growth."

About Maerki Baumann & Co. AG – Private Bank

The Zurich-based private bank Maerki Baumann & Co. AG was founded in 1932. It focuses on its core competencies of investment advisory services and asset management. The traditional bank is an unlisted family-owned company that takes a long-term view. Its investment philosophy based on security, transparency and independence is reflected in the fact that it refrains from using pro-prietary products – as well as in its very solid capital base and in the bank's transparent perfor-mance. With its modular investment approach, the innovative private bank underscores its aim of combining the traditional with the new. Maerki Baumann currently has assets under management of around 7.7 billion Swiss francs, 75% of which are generated in business with Swiss clients and 10% in business with German clients.
